BrowseWeave lets local MCP-compatible AI clients work with the pages already open in your real browser, using a compact semantic view of the page instead of raw HTML.

What it does
- Lists, selects, opens, navigates, reloads and closes browser tabs.
- Reads normal web pages through context filters instead of sending full HTML, and takes a screenshot only when visual inspection matters.
- Reads up to eight already-open tabs in one call to compare pages, without opening or navigating anything.
- Keeps at most ten BrowseWeave-opened tabs per browser profile and closes only those during cleanup.
How it works
- A browser extension talks to a local MCP server. Automatic configuration exists for Codex, Claude Code, Cursor and OpenCode; other local stdio MCP clients can be configured by hand.
Who it is for
Developers on Linux who want an AI assistant to use the browser session they are already logged into.
Limits
- It is a Linux developer preview (beta), installed from an exact pinned npm version on a systemd-based desktop.
- Supported browsers are Google Chrome, Zen and Firefox; macOS is implemented but not live-verified, and Windows, Safari and browser-store installation are not available.
