Sizefoto
Sizefoto is a free passport, visa and ID photo maker that runs entirely in the browser: it removes the background, measures the head against the rule each country publishes, and exports a file and a print sheet without uploading the photo anywhere.
What it does
- Takes a phone photo or a camera capture and produces a compliant passport, visa, ID card, driving licence or residence permit photo.
- Covers documents from more than 50 countries, each built from the issuing authority’s own published requirements, with the source and the date it was checked shown on the page.
- Checks the head height, framing, background and resolution, and says which rule would get the photo rejected.
- Exports a JPG or PNG at the size the authority asks for and a 10 x 15 cm or A4 print sheet.
- Publishes a country-by-country size comparison and guides on glasses, babies, head coverings and digital sizes, in ten languages.
How it works
- All processing happens on the device. Face detection (YuNet) and background removal (u2netp) run as ONNX models through onnxruntime-web in the browser tab, so the photo is never sent to a server.
- Country rules are stored as data files with their sources. A rule that cannot be traced to an official source is not published, and a document without verified country-specific writing is kept out of search results.
Who it is for
Anyone applying for a passport, visa or ID card who wants a correct photo without paying a studio, especially families photographing children at home and people applying from abroad.
Limits
- Some authorities do not accept self-made photos (for example Canada, France, Germany and Greece for certain documents); the page for those documents says so above the tool.
- Where a country publishes no head height, the page says so instead of inventing one.
